Today,

My powerbook 1400 screen died. Gigantic black blob all over the screen.

I wont part it. I will let it rest in its box until it gets a new screen.

So let us morn the loss of a comrade. Downed in the war aginsed ballmer.

The good news though is that 1400's are pretty cheap on eBay, so you could get another one, (and possibly upgrade, by getting one with a better screen, faster CPU, extra RAM or a useful interface card installed!) and keep your old one for parts.
