I will say right away, that I add to the problem.

It's true for me too, that I am often helping IRC move off topic.

But the off topic discussions aren't really what bother me.

The things that get me, are when people start bashing a person, company or group because of their beliefs, or their personal situations.

It may be true that whatever problem they are having is their fault.

But do we really have to point that out? Or should the person be discussing these personal matters? I kind of see both sides to it. But what thing I belive to be true, No matter how far from Macs or whatever the MLA was founded on, We are a community. We are a community that is brought together because we all share one interest. But if we don't talk about anything but macs, what sets up apart from other Mac forums? I think that we would be less of a community if we couldn't talk about other things. If we have to, we could have an IRC Channel that focuses on Mac Support and another that lets talk about whatever. Well I'll end this rant. I would like to hear others opinions on this topic.
