I think it's funny (the BSoD thing, that is). It harkens back to Apple's evangelist past, and it shows that even a major corporation can have a sense of humor. I'm sure that in 10.5.1 it'll be replaced with a Windows icon or something lame like that.

As for attending the "launch event," I've never been a fan of corporate schwagfests.
