It's 4500 sqft of conditioned space. Plus Texas has the highest unregulated electricity rates in the US. We are lucky being served by a power co-op or our bill would be 30-40% higher than it is.Good grief! When mine is $200 it's too much. Then again I have a smaller house.
You live in the Carolinas too, which is a much cooler climate. We finally got to switch off the airco on Thanksgiving when temps dropped below the high 80's. We have to use the airco almost every month. The downside is large electric bills, the upside is low gas bills for heating. We use more gas knocking the chill off the pool to let the kids swim at Christmas and through out the winter than we do heating the house.
