I strongly recommend using FreePPP. It has a nice autodetect feature that figures out sensible settings for most modems, so if you're the sort who'd prefer to fiddle with other things, FreePPP is worth a look.
Beachycove's comments about the modem speed should be taken very seriously. The internal ones are *very* slow. If you want to stay with dialup, an external modem will be a necessity. Luckily, you can use *at least* a 33.6kbaud modem at full speed, and achieve rates north of that with a 56k modem. You *will* feel the higher speed!
Wannabe68k is a great browser for those on dialup. Being text-only, you won't have to burden the cpu with the task of parsing modern html. It's a nice supplement to the other browsers you're likely to want on your Duos.
