good and bad news on the eMac frontier

Good News:

overnight I got the crazy idea to dive back into the eMac 1.25Ghz. After replacing components, I got it up and and running.

Bad News:

Ok, now it's up. It boots, but it keeps freezing. I have replaced the RAM, and the Heatsink has been reapplied with arctic silver. I have tried most everything I can, but when it freezes at the Boot Selector screen (When holding down Option at boot), i don't know what else to do. I don't want to dive into it anymore. If I have to, I will, but it's a PITA to do the strip-down and it makes my hands hurt from the AllenWrenches.

Anyone got any good ideas?

Oh, and I have tried install CDs, and I have tried booting off the 700Mhz eMac's drive. I wish I knew what else to do :-/

oops, just realized. This needs to be moved to the G3/G4/G5 forum

And it has been! :)

thanks :)

question: would letting the Arctic Silver sit for a day, make the heat conductivity better? I think it is overheating...
