Do you still have that DOA DuoDock? If you do and it's the PSU that died (especially if there was clicking involved?) there's an easy fix for the most common failure point.

The PSU is an easy fix. Actually getting the dock apart without it crumbling into a thousand shards of Michael Spindler's smirking face is the difficult part.
