equill...thanks; yes, I am using System Picker. Surprised me totally when Startup Disk saw all of the partitions as one! I never used it back when I was actually using System 7 for "real" work...never had a drive big enough!

Scott, I'll try out a regular 6.0.8 and see what happens. I was wondering about that, as I've seen some things saying it could, some that insisted it be the L version, and some that said forget it, it has to be 7 on an LCII.
