I recommend sticking with 7.0.1 unless there's some critical software that requires something higher. Those 'books have limited RAM, so you want to run the least-demanding (in terms of RAM footprint) OS version. And, needless to say, disable any unneeded bits that eat into your precious RAM.
Netscape 4.8 will be painful. I recommend going no higher than version 3 (and even 2.2 may be worth a try). Also, since rendering images is slow anyway, you may want to load up wannabe 68k as well. Since it is a text-only browser, it flies. It will require 7.1, at minimum, however. As 7.1 is not available for download from Apple, you can produce an equivalent from 7.5.3, using Gamba's procedure (see home.earthlink.net/~gamba2).
I hope you have a full 8MB of RAM. If not, you're in for unhappy days.
