how to use a pc monitor on a powermac G3? (beige)
:beige:
I recently acquired a G3 beige from a friend, and I am trying to use my PC monitor on it.
Ifound some adapters, but the one without switches (cheaper) says it only supports up to 640x480. I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with this, and if the no-switch item is ok. (my monitor supports up to 1024x768, btw)
no switches:

my reference site (says no switches is ok): http://lowendmac.com/archive/2k1031.html
thanks

Are you trying to use the built in video I assume?
I found one that I think does not have the 640X480 limit. http://www.welovemacs.com/adp-7350.html
If I were you, get the one with the switches, 640X480 these days gets really annoying.

You can find non switched ones specific to a single resolution. I have one that is 640x480 only and a bunch of belkins that are 832x624. The nice ones have switches that allow up to 1280x1024 (atleast the ones I have).
I found a really nice non-switched one that can display up to 1280 x 960. No brand or anything.
There are Apple-branded ones (I have a few of them,) that are more modern, from the time of the beige G3, and support resolution switching.
I know I have a bunch of 'spare' ones. Later today when I get home, I'll dig 'em out, try 'em out, and offer 'em up.

The ones I like the best came with my Sony monitors (which can do the funky mac only resolutions).
I have one sitting not 4 feet away from me unused its a 10 switched one you welcome to it if you want it.
