Yes. It is like a IIci/IIcx. The three Macs also have a common PSU. However, from the fifty-fourth replacement onwards, 'tis but a small pain. Yes. One must remove the PSU, but just so that one can remove the FDD/HDD cradle, and then replace the standard 3.6V half-AA lithium battery. Enjoy!
It could be worse, in that you might be obliged to remove the Astec power supply in order to replace that, instead. If such a misfortune should strike you, try to get a Delta PSU as replacement.
