To anyone who can help...
I just tried adding four 512MB PC2700 DDR 333MHz DIMMs in my PowerMac G4 (Mirrored) Dual 867 and it wouldn't start up (recognize them). I'm under, or was under, the impression that the PC2700 can ride on this model of Mac.
On the Apple support page it says for the 133 MHz system bus model (The one I have) that, "When only PC2700 or a Mix of PC2700 and PC2100 DIMMS is installed the computer starts up normally and behaves as though PC2100 DIMMs are installed."
So after reading that I took out one of the new DIMMs and added back my original PC2100s and it started up but apparently in and from The About This MAC I still only have my original PC2100 with three empty slots.
So I ask, are the 512MB PC2700 DDR 333MHz DIMMs no good in my 133MHz model or am I doing something wrong? Can they be recognized or did I get the wrong model of Dimm? HELP.
I also got an IOGear Hi-Speed 5-Port USB 2.0 PCI Card and I can't really tell if it's working in the sense of 2.0. I mean it working on the iPod I connected but it could be rolling on 1.1, no? How do I confirm this?
When I mention the About This Mac info, does that change with the ading and removing of devices and or what not or does it stay as is from stock? I would imagine it changes to show what is added or removed right?
Sorry for the rookie questions but when it comes to this stuff like adding memory or what not I am, BIG TIME.
Any quick answers will be greatly appreciated.
