Pismo Refurbishment Questions
First: I know keycaps are interchangeable between Pismo and Lombard keyboards, although the keyboards themselves are not. Are there other PB or freestanding keyboards whose keycaps would fit, for purposes of style or desperation?
Second: Do the Lombard and Pismo have metal under the rubber on the case, as the Wallstreet does? I would like to know what I will get before I start Dremeling. [

Not sure about keyboards; But owning a few Pismo's and Lombards i can tell you that sadly, there is no metal under the rubber on the top of the computer.
however, if you do decide to paint it, Post the pictures! i'd love to have a look!
Blake.

Nice frame effect.Take a look there
So then it's just more plastic of a different kind? Or is it like the already exposed plastic?there is no metal under the rubber
Thanks, I just got bored one night and decided to try something and come 5 in the morning, that was the result. Too bad I sold the pismo, but i broke the trackpad connector right off the board leaving me with no mouse. I ended up selling it for $300. But now I have a lombard and won't make that mistake againNice frame effect.Take a look there
This one stays till death do us part (Hopefully that will be a looonnnggg time
)
BTW, I want to point out that that was with the Dual USB iBooks (G3, not G4) So I don't know how well a G4's would fit. I heard they redid the key clips after the G3 line to work better with the PowerBook G4 series (instead of producing 2 types, they did one type of clip). Also, the G4s were easier to clip on to the keyboard vs. the G3s. it didn't take much to reset a G4 iBook's keys compared to the old Dual USB G3s.
That looks great!
I did basically the same thing, only I used tibook keycaps. It was a bit harder, because the g4 used slightly different keys and clips. IIRC, the odd sized keys were not usable at all, as they were very different. to use the g4 keys you need to "loosen" the hooks on the aluminum base on the Pismo kb.
