My first G4!
Well, not an actual G4 machine per se, but a Sonnet G4-700 PCI accelerator for my 7200.
Of course, it won't work until I replace the 7200's logic board with the 7500 logic board I bought a while ago... if I could only remember where I left it....
Still, not bad for $30.

It's nice to have a new project - can't wait to max out the RAM, throw in a Radeon 7000, Aria Extreme, and Tempo Trio, then (try to) install Panther.
In the grand scheme of things, it's not the most practical use of money, but what the Hell.

With an upgrade of that calibre, one could possibly justify the purchase of a better logic board to host it; say, a 9500/9600 with 6 PCI slots.
That is a nice CPU you got there. It should breathe all kinds of new life into your machine.
The 7200 case is a nice form factor. I also happen to thing the 7500 (which he used the Logic Board from) is one of the greatest Macs Apple made.
I'd surely push a few people out of the way to get a 7500/G4/700. It'd run Tiger real nice, with a Radeon, I know that. I'm buttering scones here just thinking how nice a server that would make...

I absolutely love the case design... but the main reason I want to keep my 7200 case is because it was my first ever PPC Mac!
My first really usable Mac was a 7500/100. The company my brother worked for was binning a bunch of old computers and the IT employees were given the chance to save what they wanted from the compactor and I'd been talking about the 7500 for a while so he saved one for me. I now also have a 7600/132 to go with it. That case design is the sweetest one until the 8600/9600 came along. It's so easy to open up and access everything. I wish he had brought me more.
Nice. I have a G4 400 Sonnet in my 7300. It works great.
In a 7200 case? I think an 8500/8600 board might make it, though. A G3 Desktop board will, too, if you get creative.
I think the 8500 board would be the best fit overall.

a couple of years ago, I thought of doing a case mod, or perhaps more appropriately given my lack of skill, a "case-mangling" so I could install a Beige G3 logic board into the 7200 case.
I let "Olde Mac Milt" talk me out of it though and ended up buying the 7500 logic board instead... which, incidentally, I still can't find anywhere in the house. :-/
If you're doing a G4 upgrade the older board will probably be better anyway. G4 ZIF upgrades for the G3 motherboards aren't as cheap as daughtercard upgrades for the earlier models.
