A 60GB drive, ata/100 pci card and a G3-500 ZIF are major upgrades and do cost a few bucks (you also left off more RAM). If you have them laying around, cool then use them. If you have to go and buy them all you are probably better off getting a newer machine.

The original poster seems to not know much if anything about the machine her has, get to know it as is and if you like it then start upgrading.
