Elfen» As we all know the IIfx is the fastest Mac of its time until you get to the Mac 950!
I thought that too, but if speed tests from the likes of Speedometer are anything to go by, the Quadra 700 was faster.
Processor development was so rapid then that you wait a year or two and the new processor was twice as fast.
It had the fastest bus-speed until the Quadra 840AV (40MHz)
From LowEndMac:
Mac IIfx Performance: 6.8 relative to SE; 4.60, MacBench 2.0 CPU; 11.45, Speedometer 3.06; 0.71, Speedometer 4; 10 MIPS
Q700 Performance: 11.9, relative to SE; 7.61, MacBench 2.0 CPU; 16.2, Speedometer 3.06; 0.89, Speedometer 4; 22 MIPS
