Thinking about putting OS 7.6.1 on the Q650. Any drawbacks?
The Q650 has 136mb ram, 4gb hd, 40mhz cpu, good video card.
Will be loading Adobe software, Office apps and will be surfing the net slowly.

7.6.1 won't boot from a large HFS+ partition. There is not that much difference between them.
What is the biggest partition could I make using 7.6.
Stick to 4GB partitions max before HFS+ to minimize the effects of partially used blocks. In your case, I'd probably create a 1GB system partition (for apps and system folder) and two 1.5GB data partitions. That might not be the best solution -- it depends on how the SCSI Manager (in ROM in your case) interprets the geometry of your disk.
The Q650 can not boot off a HFS+ partition but can read them under 8.1
With 7.6.1 you can not read an HFS+ partition
The max partition size HFS System 7.1 and earlier is 2 gigs
The max partition size HFS System 7.5.5 and later is 4 gigs.

With a Q650 I'd stay with 8.1. It can handle the additional overhead without breaking a sweat.
