This might sound like a stupid question but have you tried adjusting the screen controls? From memory I had to pretty much strip the machine down to get to them (as well as keeping the 'system open' switches pressed) but the display on my machine was totally shot to pieces but a quick tweak here and there and it now works a treat. Could be worth trying
