We are just happy we can give him anything other than a Pentium III >1Ghz machine. We started with a 500Mhz, then a 700Mhz, then while building our server, i ran into a snag, and then after getting a hold of the new machine, and then the RAM, we can give the guy a better system. Heck, it's better than a non-functioning laptop!!!
We will also give him a nice 19" CRT ViewSonic that has a trinitron tube. It's going to be a nice setup. We are using FLP with a XP Pro (using a key I have had hanging around) so that it gets better performance. But we are happy to get a guy that has like no chance to live, a way to communicate with his family. I have transfered all of his Data from the laptop to the new machine. I would like to update about the machine, We have replaced the Video Card with a 128MB nVidia GeForce4 so he has a better video card, and not one that ghosts the image (it's really weird. and no, it's not a bad video cable)
If anything, when he does pass on (there is no hope for him with the cancer) his wife will have the machine to do stuff with. I am really glad we can help him. He was a client that came to us when we were still with our last employer, and he came to *US* when the deal fell through, and after he paid $120 to the last guy for work that was not done, I feel that we did right to him by giving him a system, and making up for the a**-hole employer we had that didn't fix the problem.
I feel good. Not from the fact of the conquest, but the fact that we can give a guy something that will help him to keep in touch with his family.
