lattest update:
i took it down and the input board was fried. i also inspected the mobo

the are small areas of white corrosion like where the input board plug solders to the mobo. and around some power components large caps mainly.

would you try to clean the mobo of the corrosion with some contact cleaner and go back with it?

I am afraid that the mobo is shorted out the input board will fry again.

Logic boards for an iBook Clamshell let alone with firewire costs a lot of money. I just happen to join the LEM swap list at the right time to find a logic board for my clamshell.
