broken 512k on ebay
I was wondering if this mac 512k on ebay is fixable. The image looks similar to the simasi pattern on the SE/30 but it ain't quite the same. If I acquire this 512k, do you think that some capacitor replacing would fix it? I have a plus that I could use as a donor if needed

There aren't as many electrolytics in the early classics, so that simasi problem may be due to something else (bad ram?). It could also be as simple as an out-of-spec power supply (very common). Hard to say much more than that without taking some measurements.
It's probably fixable with reference to a copy of "Macintosh Repair and Upgrade Secrets" or advice from the folks on this list. "Dead Mac Scrolls" can be useful too.
Any repair would require a bit of soldering though. If you're comfortable working on things and have some experience soldering, it is probably within your power to fix, although there's no telling what you'd have to spend on replacement parts.
