It is currently running 7.5.1 and I'm using an Assante localtalk to ethernet adaptor. I'm fast running out of patience.

(a) how are you connecting to the Assante local talk adapter? You need localtalk cabling, not a serial cable.

( B) do any of the others actually have AppleTalk configured and running?
