Black 5500 and something really odd

It's a keyboard with a 2" cash register type paper roll printer, an acoustic coupler at the back (yes, those foam cups that squidge over a 70s style telephone handset) and a 20 character alphanumeric (not dot matrix) vacuum-fluorescent display. All in a case the size and shape of a big ole desk calculator.
And a Macbook Pro battery for $5 (wtf?)

Dude, that terminal is awesome! I hope you can figure out what to do with it while you're sitting around basking in the cool of the black 5500.
I heard a rumor those didn't come with cache memory installed. Is that true?

Third thought was to try and bypass the acoustic coupler and wodge in an RS-232 port, and use it as an actual terminal.
