[For those of a non-UK disposition, the title is what's called 'Yorkshire' - an offshoot of English whereby letters and sounds are just randomly ignored]

I landed an eMac!!!!!!

Been after one for a while but the prices on eBay have either been stupid or they've been 'pickup only'...from several hundred miles away. However the G4 seems to be falling from favour here in the UK as of late so prices have been coming down (down to the point where my bank balance can actually afford it ;) ).

So last night I got myself the 800MHz version with 512Mb of RAM and a 40Gb hard drive. OK so it's hardly a speed demon and could probably benefit from a bit more RAM, but it's a decent spec for £69 and it fills another hole in the collection.

Eeeeee eight 'undred megahertz. AH 'member when all we 'ad were a pair o' transistor radios and a spatula. AND we were looocky to 'ave 'em, too.

Etc

eeeMac? In my day it were LCII in septic tank.

Ee ecky thump!

I'll tell thee as I see thee, nowt good'll ever come o' it...'appen as like :?:

aye, it's grim up north...

I've been using a 700MHz eMac as my main machine and it's perfectly adequate (with a gig of RAM)... I use it mostly for graphics with a bit of audio and video stuff thrown in to really test its limits.

Best thing about the eMac is the screen is fantastic (though I'm sure many will argue that point).
