So in part of the Mac-related duties at my full-time I came across a Quicksilver G4 that was stripped of everything aside from a working PSU and motherboard. I tested it with parts from a working machine and didn't run into any trouble. It used to be a 1Ghz dualie and since it works I'm wondering why it was missing the rest of its innards. :-/

Anyway, we sometimes sell off old equipment internally so I asked if I could have it. For $25, I got it as well as a pair of Apple Pro speakers. When I dropped off my payment, my boss offered me a 21" Studio CRT (graphite) to go with it. Of course, I said yes, but I'm not quite sure where I'll put it when he brings it in! :D

I have most of what I need for the Quicksilver, and a friend of mine is coming to the rescue with a processor/fan/heatsink and the optical/zip drive cage. After I get done (at least for now!) it should look about like this:

+ 733Mhz G4

+ 512MB RAM+

+ 40GB HDD (or two, depending on what I have laying around!)

+ Radeon 9600 (or it may be a 9000, all I know is I have to tape the pins on it for it to work in the 4x AGP slot. Came from a dead G5. )

+ DL DVD/RW drive

The optical drive may be a bit of overkill, so it may just get a DVD-ROM instead. I'm going to be using this box mostly for OS 9-era games I can't run on my Intel machine or on my G4 Cube's pokey graphics card. (If I could find a working logic board for my Cube - it has bad Firewire ports > :( - I might bother to put something better in it!)
