There is one way ... download a Disk Tools floppy and boot from that. Then find the (previously downloaded) Battery Reset on your HD and clicky click. That or any 8.6-9.x bootable CD, like Hardware Test or Techtool.
That machine will also take 10.3.

Yes. It needs Disk 2 to complete the install. Presence or absence of OS 9 isn't a factor.
