One of my wife's friends gave me this one. It's almost like my birthday all over again. :)

It was a T2341 that decided to go up in smoke. The power supply is dead and several capacitors on the motherboard are bulging.

I managed to salvage a few things from it that I will try later this evening:

- 640MB of DDR memory (too bad my PCs are currently SDRAM)

- Athlon 2300 processor

- HP DVD+RW burner

- fan from the power supply

- WinTV tuner card

- 56k modem

- XP Home COA

A bag of parts came with it with the following:

- 4 sticks of RIMM memory (2x64MB, 2x128MB)

- USB2 PCCard for laptops

- GeForce2MX AGP video card with 32MB memory

- GE Wireless keyboard with receiver (wireless mouse is missing, corroded batteries)

- Emachines scroll mouse

- microphone

Processor works - it was an AthlonXP 2400+

good stuff, it's always nice to have extra parts around.

Sounds like a good load.

The processor gave me a nice speed boost over the Duron 1300 that was in my PC.

The DVD burner from that stash of parts does not burn DVDs. Rats.

EDIT - it burns CDs at a blazing 12x and will read DVDs. A little better...

Ah I know what "poofy" means now. I had a PSU go poof, not fun. It was a bang, little shrapnel came out the fan exhaust, and there was a BSOD for one second before power went out.

It has quite a different meaning here...

I think I know your meaning from all of the Monty Python I used to watch. :)

And I have no clue.
