Internal Modem

Internal Modem Hardware 8 posts Aug 28, 2008 — Aug 30, 2008
I have a Centris 650 with the internal modem that was installed at the factory.

I would like to move the modem to a G3 Blue/White tower.

Is the modem compatible with the G3?

Nope

thats a big fat no

Basically, the modem is part of the motherboard....

Huh? No it isn't

/edit/ For a moment there, I thought the Q650 had a comm slot. Searching on lowendmac, everymac and briefly on Google (because I am too lazy to walk 10 meters and open my own Q650) reveals only Nubus and PDS. I assume the modem is a PDS or Nubus card if it is internal.

Either way, nope.

There were NuBus/PDS modems? Wow, you learn something every day. :O

Pixplzthx? :p

If it does not work I could (as probably could many others) scrounge you up one for the price of shipping. Good Luck.

There were NuBus/PDS modems?
Well, I'm only assuming (see lazy, above). Can't find any reference to a Comm Slot, or a built-in modem.
transcorpmla: are you thinking of the modem -port- that's marked with a telephone symbol, next to the identical one with the printer symbol? Because that's just a serial port, for connecting -to- external serial modems.

If there's something else in there, enquiring minds want to know [:D] ]'>
