This is a point we must all remember. They are just machines. Any emotional attachment or "mercy" we give by saving them is within ourselves. If a Mac is smashed, it only matters to people, not to the Mac.
Considering this, it is fun to save them, though, and if it makes you feel good and you have the time & space, and brings back good memories, then why not do it. But remember that we're doing it for us, and not for the Macs themselves.
