flash PC Radeon 9550 128MB for G5 DP PowerMac?
I have a PC bios Radeon 9550 with 128MB VRAM. I was wondering if I could flash this with a downgrade Mac-compatible ROM to go in my newly purchased Dual-2.5GHz G5 Powermac 7,3.
I was thinking of going down to a 9500 non-pro or 9500 Pro. Maybe even up to the 9650 ROM from here -> http://themacelite.wikidot.com/wikidownloads2

PS. I just discovered it comes with the Radeon 9600, so this may all be academic really...

PS. I just discovered it comes with the Radeon 9600, so this may all be academic really...
The 9550 uses a considerably slower core over a 9600(pro) - 250Mhz over 400Mhz - but some cards had the ability to be software/hardware modified to beome a 9600Pro in the PC world. I'd google the exact card to see if it has the ability to be BIOS modified to a 9600. Also remember that a 9600XT is a different card and you can't flash to this. Looking at the available ROMs, there isn't much of a choice so I suspect you might have difficulty.
