Whaaaa!? Seriously?
Back in the day, I never knew there was a declaration ROM and went out of my mind trying to figure out how to enable the LCD when docked. Only much later did I finally read the developer's notes and discover this.
Am I to infer from the quoted info that the declaration ROM is different than the dock ROM? Or they are one in the same? In which case, it sadly defeats most of the advantages of the dock, including Ethernet, SCSI, floppy, 2nd internal drive and an external monitor for spanning. I am impressed that NuBus continues to work, so that would make up for ethernet, SCSI and external monitor. The floppy is still a problem though, though not really in this day & age.
I wonder what would happen if you replaced the Dock ROM with the ROM from the MiniDock, assuming they were pin compatible?
