Follow Wally's excellent advice very carefully. Hopefully, that will solve your problem. If not, you should know that not all CDR media is alike, so not all CDRs are readable in all drives. Some drives will read only discs of a certain type. The discs themselves may be perfectly readable by other drives. Early drives had serious problems working with discs from a variety of vendors, and even the newest ones will occasionally balk at discs of a certain brand.

If you used off-brand discs, the probability of compatibility problems goes up markedly. Drive manufacturers often use Taiyo-Yuden discs as their standard, and so T-Y discs tend to have the fewest problems. You may have to re-burn that disc onto different media, or replace the drive, to enjoy compatibility with a wider variety of media.
