6100 av card not driving monitor

6100 av card not driving monitor Hardware 2 posts Oct 18, 2008 — Oct 19, 2008
I have a 6100, angle adapter, newertech processor upgrade and two apple av cards (not hpv), two Apple Video - VGA adapters and an old multi-scan VGA monitor (optiquest), and OS 7.6, 8.6, 9.04

No matter what combination of these items, I use I cannot get the AV card to display on the monitor. The monitor handles scan rates from 70-85hz and resolutions > 1024 and works fine when I used it on the on-board 6100 video, and LCIII and even a radeon 7000 in a PMG3.

Here's the weird part. When hooked up, I can actually see the display via VNC and change the resolution and hear the monitor click as it sees the resolution/rate change, however nothing ever shows on the actual screen.

I would just write it off as a bad card but it does the same thing with two separate cards.

I don't have another VGA monitor, but It does the same thing with an apple monitor from my LC.

Anyone seen this before?

Is there any extensions I need for this HW?

Any other ideas to test?

Muhwuh? I was all set to say it was the VGA adapter until you got to that part.

I don't remember needing any software for the plain monitor out from the AV card but I could be wrong.

When it comes to 6100 wisdom, kan.org sees all, knows all.
