Just got back from my latest conquest: an original iMac, complete with keyboard, hockey puck mouse and translucent power cord. Free from Craigslist. It still has the shipping plastic on the foot/kickstand!!
Looks like my daughter has a Mac now.

Yep, those can be fun, though the older ones tend to break down, like from harddrive issues. I gave one to my friend for free about 2 years ago. Just last spring, it had two issues: the 4GB HD had died, and the motherboard had a problem, USB, I think. It wouldn't start up. Fortunately, when I got that iMac, I also got the motherboard and HD of another iMac. I did brain surgery and a board swap/HD swap and now his iMac is working fine.
I also discovered a dirty secret in the process: I remember reading sometime that the original iMac did not have fan, but when I opened it up, there indeed was a fan hidden inside!

Yeah, it's no real secret that the original iMacs do in fact have a fan. It's the slot-loading G3 iMacs that are completely convection cooled.
Yes, that's probably what I got it confused with. It's the slot-loading G3 iMacs that are completely convection cooled.
Also, I forgot to mention, Congrats on that liberation! First-gen iMacs are actually a really cool color, and I wouldn't mind getting one or another one some day. Not sure what I'd use it for, but it would be cool anyway. [

Probably will be good collector's items as well.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
It is in REALLY good condition considering the age. I may give my daughter my Snow iMac (with its convection goodness) because there is less chance of her breaking something on it (I could see her breaking the CDROM tray or the side door on the Bondi). Besides, I have an extra Snow just in case she breaks something on that. ;D

It's no blue dalmatian or flower power. But I guess it will do.
What I would give for either of those machines.
