I got a ThinkPad 600e back in July, and I think its CD drive was broken, because no matter what version of Windows I tried (2000, 98, XP), setup wouldn't get past the same file every time I tried each version. This also happened with different copies of the discs, too, so it wasn't a disc problem.

Last week, I went ahead and ordered a 24x CD-ROM drive for it, and it showed up yesterday.

Its battery -used- to work, but I found out last night that it won't charge. A quick googling session found this:

So now I'm waiting for that battery to come; should be here by the end of the week.

Right now, I've got the bugger chuggin' along with XP. It's a Pentium II 366 with 228MB RAM, a 30GB HD, CD-ROM, and a WaveLAN Silver. It makes for a -great- internet browsing/word processing laptop.

:)

Very nice!

I have my ThinkPad 600, but the backlight is bad. It will flash on startup and eventually stop working at all.

Glad you got that working. My friend has one of those.
