Clamshell iBook won't boot
Hi all!
I have a dead blue Clamshell iBook lying around that I'd like to rescue. When turned on, it chimes, and shows the question mark. Nothing wrong until now: it won't boot from a CD (I tried several generic OS 9 and OS X 10.2 CDs), nor from a FireWire drive.
I took it apart and put a new drive (with a fresh OS 9 install on it) in it, but it still won't boot. Target mode and OpenFirmware are fine, though.
No need to tell I tried all the usual resets, with no luck.
Any suggestion welcome, thanks in advance!

I'm in the same boat with mine, but I don't have an optical drive to boot from, or the Firewire model.
Oops, just seeing I posted in the wrong forum. Sorry about that! May some moderator move the topic?
The discs you are using, are they CD-Rs? Or is it a DVD-R?
The early iMacs and iBooks have issues with burned discs. It seems they were an early implementation of a new laser, and I have run into issues with these.
Try a retail CD that is commercially pressed
