Browser6 - The System 6 Web Browser
Hey there 68k-ers!
I am doing the hosting of Browser6 for porter, so when I get it through email I will host it on my webserver (I bet this will make my hits skyrocket). But anyway, I will keep you guys updated.

I can host it if needed, I have some webspace on a friend's server and I get a good amount of space and bandwidth (Can't remember the exact numbers right now).
Just fire me a PM if interested.

I've got a server too, if you want me to host it, or be a mirror.
Thanks for the offers, mirrors would be especially handy because it would distribute server load. I am not particularly worried about my server's bandwidth, but yes, if (when) this gets tedious I will need mirrors. I may even get a different (but free) subdomain as to not get my main server suspended.
EDIT: No real important need for mirrors, I have 100GB of bandwidth.

At the moment there is no need for mirrors. I'm merely posting a snapshot of the work in progress for the curious.
There's always space on the MLA server for things like this too... Would be cool to have some more projects hosted here. I don't see the System 6 community burning through 100GB of bandwidth too quickly though [

It doesn't matter to me, but on my server we could have a set apart, specialized Browser6 site. Besides, I kinda want some project to do.
Your choice porter...

I guessed as much!
Well the offer stands. Even if you just want a dedicated forum to do development/support/etc in then I can easily add one (similar to the Retrochallenge and Wiki forums). Let of know [

What I would like is the original thread to be the source of commentary on the project and just some file store so that downloads of an archive can be accessed. Just keep things simple.
The site above is down and I would love to get my powerbook 540 on the web. Can anyone re-host this, or send it to me and I will host it on my server?
Use iCab instead. It's stable, fast, and more full-featured on a 68040 than any other browser, including Browser6.The site above is down and I would love to get my powerbook 540 on the web. Can anyone re-host this, or send it to me and I will host it on my server?
Browser6 really is only 'better' than iCab on ridiculously low-RAM systems.
... Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! :lol:Use iCab instead. It's stable, fast, and more full-featured on a 68040 than any other browser, including Browser6.
iCab is about as stable as the political climate of the Soviet Union in 1990, dude
Honestly, I don't think I've been able to use it once without it crashing. But you're right, it's definitely fast. So fast, in fact, that from a cold start it takes two seconds to crash! }

Hello all,
I had taken down the browser6 host a while ago, since my participation in this community had ceased. I still browse here from time to time, though, and I noticed that this thread was not only stickied, but had new posts in it, as well.
I still have the binaries and source code for this project, porter never made any release of it past very basic functionality, the browser itself is not fit to be used. If I find the time, I'll get it uploaded to my own server sometime in the near future.

I can host these files if you can send them to me. I think I could also continue the project.
JUEHA:
Did you get a response from someone?
If you want to add to the project i can do some door-knocking for you.

Barana: No, I didn't get any response. That would be very nice.
