@luddite:

Well, the university doesn't have ANY port forwarding, so I'm somewhat stuck there. And as a student they won't be giving me any, especially since I know from one of the IRT staff that I'm actually on their "watch list" which basically means that every so often my firewall lights up like a Christmas tree when they do all kinds of invasive scans on me to see I'm not tinkering with their network. I never did anything to their network, but a friend told me it's because I was running a loopback proxy and firewalling, etc. on my own router inside of their network, which blocks out alot of their sniffing and poking around my machines, which they are not happy about. Since they do it to everyone else on campus. Bloody control freaks.

And my Lantronix is older than the UDS-10: it's an MSS-VIA, which is discontinued quite a while ago. I don't quite remember what port you're supposed to get to on it, I'm sure it's in the docs somewhere.

EDIT: from most of the documentation I have read on the MSS-VIA, it's really intended for direct serial tunneling applications or for outgoing interfaces (which is what I use it for now) and not really for the kind of thing I want to make it be. I'll conquer it eventually, I hope.
