You may have some bad ram, or some other internal issue. I remember when I used to use my powerbook alot about every 5-6 weeks, at some random time, it would suddenly just have a stuck-on sleep led. My remedy was resetting the pmu, pulling the batter out, resetting again, then popping the battery back in. It would either boot automatically or not at all, and another reset would get it running.
