Yes, my 605 lives! 
I pulled it out and it was a little dusty. I had a nice seagate HD in there, and one of those cool SIMM-adapters that gives me 2 SIMMS in the place of the one slot on the MB. I also remembered that I had tracked down a real '040 and replaced the LC version that was in there.
The first boot it did nothing, no chime. I let it run for about 1 min and shut it off.
2nd boot same thing- nothing. Oh oh I thought. I put in a new battery, there were no leaks in the one in there (from 1996). Caps not obviously leaking, but yeah, there seem to be a mess of them.
3 power cycle I got a Chime after about 20 seconds! But no HD activity, and the monitor wasn't syncing (using LCD with VGA adapter thing).
4th power cycle I got chime right away, and video!
I let it sit, it started to boot, got the happy Mac icon then it rebooted.
That reboot it booted all the way up into 8.1, where I had left it. Everything looks good, ethernet works... this looks nice.
20 Megs RAM too.
