iCab?
mozilla 1.2.1 hangs on my system. g3 with 9.2.2 so i can only use icab which is buggy or ie 5 or netscape 4.7
Does mozilla 1.3.1 work any better? I used a non-official version from here last I used Classic to regularly browse online:

Netscape 7 does certain aspects of Facebook fine.
I found that iCab did the best job on pre-OS X Macs. Far from perfect, though.
Just a hint to speed up things try and use the mobile version of the sites you visit, or even better the iPhone version.
For example use http://m.google.com for Gmail, gCal, etc, http://iphone.facebook.com for Facebook, http://m.flickr.com for Flickr…
Enjoy!

Have to say, one good thing about the popularity of mobile browsing is the amount of sites that now have a mobile version...really helps these older machines.
I just found an online utility that can optimize any website to allow you to view it with an older or mobile browser. Check out http://www.baresite.com/ However, there are a few problems with it. For example, you may not be able to access everything on more complex web pages. Alternatively, you could try Mowser, which seems to do a better job.
If all else fails, I'd recommend just viewing the page in basic HTML.

iCab and mozilla both would take ages to load facebook in OS 9 for me.
I'm surprised FaceBook even works at all on any browser on OS 9.
I tried it one day just for shits and giggles.I'm surprised FaceBook even works at all on any browser on OS 9.![]()
A lot of websites these days really hate us Classic Mac users. >
:'(
What is it about them that makes it hard to load on Macs? Is it the CSS? or too much multimedia?

It seems to be the CSS and Javascript more than anything else.A lot of websites these days really hate us Classic Mac users. >:'(

Come to think of it, someone should try modifying the classic Mac OS version of Mozilla so that it can browse the modern web. Or better yet, create a new, fast web browser that can do that. Maybe throw in Gnash and the latest Java.
