Exactly, which is why you can save yourself US $149.00 if you don't have to have the manuals. As implied by robert2d3d 's evidently less rare simultaneous auction, the manuals are evidently worth about that much. Then again, Robert's auction does not go into as much detail as Dan's, a point Dan routinely makes about the merchandise he offers as being thoroughly vetted over other sellers (Dan's words not mine). However, as with any seller, that does not absolve the buyer from asking all intelligent questions to assure they are getting what they think they are. Or, if you don't care if your manuals are pre-packaged, you could just hop over to amazon and by MacWrite and MacPaint for a combined total of less than US $55.00. And of course they turn up all the time on eBay and elsewhere for these prices or less. I suppose patience is more than a virtue in this case.
In a related auction offered by danapplemacman, you may want to supplement your MacWrite/MacPaint boxed set with Cary Lu's original RARE "The Apple Macintosh Book" complete with pre-release illustrations of the prototype Macintosh, for ONLY US $99. Or, you could go to Amazon, alibris, or other online used book sellers and pick up one of the many available copies for under 99 cents! I picked up my 1st edition copy from Amazon for about US $4.00 including shipping.
