So...what happened? Troubleshooting 10 posts Jun 1, 2009 — Jun 1, 2009
For the past couple of days I've gotten a "Out of bandwidth message". Obviously the server exceeded it's allotted bandwidth, but can someone provide more details?

It looks like ~tl needs to spring for a better hosting package.

I can't help but think we probably used more bandwidth through desperate forum addicts reloading the page every 5 minutes to see if more allocated transfer had suddenly appeared. :D

At his expense??????? !!!

Netfirms also has pretty good hosting plans... I've yet to come anywhere near my 300GB limit ;-)

Based on the prices of those hosting plans at Zernebok, I don't think ~tl is sparing a great expense to host these forums. I was formerly under the impression that a large hosting plan or even a dedicated server was needed to host this system.

I may have taken what alk said the wrong way...but it looked (read) to me like "hey the forum has used up it's bandwidth quota, ~tl better open his wallet!" It just seemed a little bit....oh i can't think of the word....ungrateful? No, not that...but something....

The forum's requirements are actually pretty modest, we don't currently need anything more than 10GB of bandwidth and about 500MB of space. I have it hosted on the back of an account I have with Zernebok Hosting (which is owned by a friend of mine) which I also use to host a number of other sites. It's never been a problem before this month... I've always been well under the bandwidth limit that I have. We'll see how we get on with things this month...
