PowerBook 140 hinges broke

So my PowerBook 140's hinges just broke today. Miraculously, the video cable seems to be alright.

Is there any real way of fixing the hinges?

Or could I install a whole PowerBook 160 top on?

It is the screwposts on the top outer plastic and not the metal hinges though, right?

I successfully swapped the outer lid plastic piece from my 145 onto my 160. Also stuck my 145's LCD panel in that same 160. Both were direct swaps as far as I remember.

You might be able to swap the metal hinges themselves as well but I am not sure.

The layouts of the ports on the back are different between the 145 and 160 but I do not know about the 140 or 165.

Many of the 68k PBs have relatively similar parts so just compare both. :p

Alright, thanks. :)

so this means I can use a PowerBook 150 top on my PowerBook 140 too?

mm, I have two 150s but they both have screw post failure so I never looked into it.

Somehow I doubt it though because you have to attach the LCD to that panel and the 150 has a different size of LCD.

It might work.. possibly. But probably not. I would have to take a closer look.
