I have two AppleCD 300s which refuse to accept caddies. After taking a peek through the caddy door, it looks like the mechanism of one of them is clamped down (like it was reading). The other one was working fine connected to my Macintosh LC but suddenly spat the caddy out and won't accept a caddy now.

Suggestions? I've already tried the paperclip trick.

Sorry, my bad.

Alright, I finally was able to take the lid off one of the AppleCD 300s, but I have to disassemble the actual CD unit now. Would anybody be able to guide me through it? Thanks!

Have you tried multiple caddies? There's always that slight chance that the caddy itself is defective.

No, I've tried three caddies in each; it's not the issue of the caddies, as on both of the drives, you can see the heads clamped down. Therefore, I'm trying to figure out how to disassemble the actual CD unit itself. Thanks for the suggestion though!

How is the software working for you, BTW?
