AppleColor RGB Monitor
Just picked this up from Dan Knight yesterday. Paid $15 for it.
Included the video cable. Cabinet is pretty yellowed, not nearly the same shade as my Iigs.
It's a bass ackward monitor, too. Where most monitors I have handled have an integrated video cable, and a removable power cord, this one has a removable video cord and integrated power cord.
It works great. After some fiddling with the adjustments, I got it to come up crisp and bright, and even got rid of this band on the right hand side that was raised up a scan line, was blue, and could not mouse past it.
Now all I need to do is clean it, get rid of some of the yellow, and find some screw bolts for the video port on my IIgs, as it's just hanging there by the 15 pins.
btw, my IIc has the same port, so am I to assume it will work on that? I got a adapter for that port that converts it to RCA for TV output.

Post up some pictures!
I will later on this weekend. It seems to be running great. Now all I need is some sort of hard storage, a full install of System 6.0.1, Wolfenstein 3D, and I'll be set!!
Alright, piccies:
For some reason 3 of 5 of them came out super grainy. And that's 2 megapixels on my phone. My Quicktake 150 takes better pics. Should have used that instead. Oh well.

Mine has got a weird problem where the longer it is on, the brighter it gets. Within the first 20 minutes, one can compensate by turning down the brightness and contrast, but after that, the only solution is to turn off the monitor for a bit and wait. I think that the heat has something to do with it. Very annoying. :-/
your problem is weird. I wonder how heat would make it brighter. Maybe it's fixable.
Hopefully so. I ought to post a thread on csa2, now that I think about it...your problem is weird. I wonder how heat would make it brighter. Maybe it's fixable.
I would also like to know whether the AppleColor will work with Macs. Nice score btw, I got a IIgs not too long ago but haven't gotten around to it yet.btw, my IIc has the same port, so am I to assume it will work on that?
Edit: Wikipedia seems to imply that it will work. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AppleColor_High-Resolution_RGB_Monitor
Nope, I have tried it. The scan rate is different so the screen is completely distorted.I would also like to know whether the AppleColor will work with Macs. For awhile, I was scared to do it because I didn't know if it would break the Mac or the monitor. 8-oI'm going to try it anyway.Nope, I have tried it. Thats a completely different monitor, which is not only 13" (up from 12"), but was actually intended for use on the Mac.I would also like to know whether the AppleColor will work with Macs. The port on the IIc is only physically the same, AFAIK it won't work with much other than the mono LCDs that were available for the IIc.btw, my IIc has the same port, so am I to assume it will work on that? I got a adapter for that port that converts it to RCA for TV output.
It's worth noting that while the RF adapter uses an RCA cable, it doesn't output a composite video signal like you would use on a modern TV or Apple II composite monitor... it's meant to be used with one of those old "game/tv" switches that screw onto the antenna terminals. They do work quite well, in my experience, and have the advantage of also conveying the audio signal to the TV set.
so they are basically like a coaxial jack. I actually have one of those old rat shack branded switches...somewhere.The port on the IIc is only physically the same, AFAIK it won't work with much other than the mono LCDs that were available for the IIc.btw, my IIc has the same port, so am I to assume it will work on that? I wonder if the opposite is true, if I could use the Apple IIc's modulator on the IIgs and output that to a TV...The modulator is in a drawer just sitting there unused.
I was thinking of doing that when I did not have a monitor, as just plugging in the RCA connector would work, but it looked a little distorted on my TV.
Then, there is always the Apple II VGA card coming out...
I stand corrected.Thats a completely different monitor, which is not only 13" (up from 12"), but was actually intended for use on the Mac.I would also like to know whether the AppleColor will work with Macs.
