As far as "feisty fawn" or the "jaunty whatever" that alk is trying to get up and running over on 'fritter, I think I'll stick with the "standard" X86 distro.
What gets hacked and how, depends upon form factor considerationss, $ worries, and whatever whim strikes me when it's time to start hackin' another box. I haven't built or upgraded an X86 since the rug-rat started high school . . . and he'll be 24 this year!
It may also depend upon how much power I'd need to run my CammJet Plotter. I'll bet there are drivers for it out there in the X86 world of Linux that'll do full color inkjet plotting right out of the GIMP. If so, the least expensive Micro ATX MoBo that's up to the task, hacked into one of the Q700 triplets, would be a match made in heaven!
That's IF Murphy and the form factor gods don't bollix the deal!
