Ext 800K drive --> 1.44MB floppy transplant, still good?

Hi all,

I've an Apple external 800K floppy drive (the one with the lines on top and red LED at the front) with a flaky 800K drive I'd like to replace. I've a spare 1.44MB floppy drive from an SE/30 in waiting; will this work fine if transplanted into the external drive? If I use this SuperDrive on a Mac Plus or SE, will it work at "800K mode" with no issues?

Thanks

JB

Yeah, for a while back when my Classic II worked I was playing with a SuperDrive that I had in my Apple 3.5" drive shell. When connected to the Classic II it worked as a full SuperDrive, and could read/write 1.44MB and 800k floppies, and when connected to the 512ke it worked fine as an 800k drive.
