iMac Summer 2K doesn't like OS9 anymore!
OK, my iMac had been running OS X for quite a while, but when I went to start up in OS 9 i just get a blinky ? floppy disk and a cursur. it used to like OS 9 but now it won't even boot from my System Folder or 9.0.4 CD. any ideas?
I'm downloading a 9.2.2 CD, but dunno if it will work.

When you try to boot from the 9.0.4 CD, do you get the blinky, or an error message saying the disk is not compatible? I suspect that series needs a slightly higher version.
Does your DVD/CD Drive work in OS X? That may have bit the bucket, or your install media.
the cd/dvd drive works fine.
when i boot from 9.0.4, it doesn't boot and just starts X

I can only assume that the drive doesn't have the Mac OS 9 drivers installed (usually an option when installing OS X on a drive or preparing it through DU). Have you tried zapping the PRAM and the other usuals?
Oops... OS9 drivers...
Holding Option down, does it show the disc?
not the CD, but the harddrive.
Macgeek417,
Try updating the drivers for the hard disk drive. See if OS 9.x will install from there. If it installs, then download Firmware Update version 4.1.9f4 (under OS 9.x's Software Update control panel). Follow the instructions and install the update. It basically allows OSX and OS9 to boot when both OS versions are present on the same system.
If the CD containing OS9 doesn't want to boot, try restarting and hold down the letter C on the keyboard. If that doesn't work, try Option until the CD shows up under the boot choice menu. If that doesn't work, boot into OSX, go into your control panel/system preferences, under Startup Disk, choose the OS9 CD (double-click on the icon) and restart the iMac. It should boot off of the CD.
If any of these won't work, then possibly the CD drive is bad or the CD itself is bad (too many scratches, too dirty, etc.).
