I am still worried about whether this method will make the plastics brittle, or has some other long-term consequence which no one knows about yet. When it's been 2-3 years with no problems reported, then maybe I'll try it. This is kind of like the board-washing thing which I was skeptical about, but I've board washed 3 or 4 machines by now and they still work.
